NOTE FROM THE WEBMASTER: This website resided for many years on an AOL server.
Late in 2008, AOL abruptly discontinued providing webspace to their subscribers.
Pages, links and elements such as photos, graphics, etc. of the original site were interconnected with other websites on many servers, so it will require some time (probably a few months) to reconstruct this website. Please bear with us while we rebuild after the devastation caused by AOL. You will find many "dead links" until we get things straighted out.
Late in 2008 Gar Williams said "about 20 Bowlus trailers" had been "found" because of this website. That's good news!
Thanks,

William Hawley Bowlus, designer of Bowlus - Teller Travel Trailers and
Bowlus Sailplanes and Gliders had a long and important career in the field of American aviation.
Mr. Bowlus was the shop foreman for Ryan Aircraft Company when the 'Spirit of St. Louis' was made for Charles Lindberg. It was Hawley Bowlus, not Claude Ryan, who made the airplane to Charles Lindberg's specification.
We believe there are about twenty Bowlus trailers remaining out of about 140 built.
This web site is devoted to acknowledging that career and keeping alive the memory of William Hawley Bowlus, his creations and accomplishments. We want it to be a good place to obtain accurate and interesting information about Bowlus Trailers and their designer, Hawley Bowlus.

(The woman in the photo is Hawley's wife Ruth. The car was her five window coupe that she used to deliver the trailers. She and Hawley once towed a new one all the way to Ohio with the '34.)
