'97 Wells Cargo Trailer

SOLD!

(A GREAT PORTABLE CABIN FOR DEER HUNTING)

This trailer was custom-built for me in 1997. It has been used mostly for long-term storage of personal belongings.

Floor size is 7' wide by 14' long.
Inside height is 6' - 6".

My idea was to build an easy-to-tow, high-quality, lightweight camper, but the project was never finished for a number of reasons.

The trailer has a "pedestrian door" on the curb side. The door has a separate swinging screen door, and two keyed locks.

7 ft. width permits towing without mirror extensions, and makes towing in hilly areas safer and easier. That "nose cone" improves towing stability. (It really works!)

The rear double doors were added by Wells Cargo (at my request) a few years after the trailer was built. They were added so the trailer could be used to carry a steam car built by a friend. The trailer could be used as a car-hauler today. Ramps in photo are included. (I have had my Model "A" in the trailer, tied down to pad eyes in its floor.)

The trailer is fully insulated. It has plywood paneling on its inside and a hinged skylight in the roof. A window for "street side" of trailer is included. It was never installed.

There is an air conditioner in the roof. It was installed new when the trailer was built, but it has never been connected to electric power. I do not know if it works, because it's never been hooked up and "turned on."

The trailer has not seen much travel, maybe 1500 miles.

The trailer has electric brakes, and its original tires. (The tires have full tred, but are 14 years old, so should be replaced if trailer is to be operated at highway speeds. All the lights (interior and exterior) work. The hitch is a 2-inch ball with safety chains and a brake-away switch to operate the brakes in an emergency (but the brake battery has never been installed.)
