Intend to get the bottom closed up (not watertight) so I can wrap this half in plastic and see what it feels like in the water. Another 1/4" bulkhead will pull the sides into shape when I build the "trunk" for the "motor box."
Have not said much about this detail. The idea is to install the motor in this box -- so the box, with the motor protruding from its bottom, will be "dropped in" to a trunk-like opening in the boat. In the earlier, smaller boat, the vertical tube of the motor unit had to be inserted through the hull from the bottom up -- before the boat was launched. With this design, the motor can be easily installed -- or removed -- with the boat afloat. (Stay tuned for more.) Right now, I'm most interested is seeing how this half of the boat floats -- loaded with about half of the weight the "whole baot" will eventually carry.
While waiting for some epoxy to cure, and having a bit of a batch left over, I tried using a 1/2" "roundover" router bit to round over a small section of chine, and then glassed it. I think this detail will work fine when I cover the bottom with glass cloth.
