IS
PART OF OUR
SNIPE SIGN PROBLEM?
On Saturday, Nov. 22, as a result of some discussion at the Arnold snipe sign meeting, I drove to MoDot's fenced compound at Hwy W near I-55 to see
if what I heard was true.
It seems that when MoDot clears roads and
highways of"snipe" signs, they take them to their compound, but
do not destroy them. So it is easy for the sign-posting "bandits" to
go to MoDot, pick up the signs and re-install them. (You tax dollars
at work!) And, yes, I found snipe signs on the ground, just
awaiting reuse, I guess:
As a reminder, ALL such ("snipe") signs posted in the right-of-ways
are there illegally. The same goes for signs on utility poles. (No,
we are not against "lost kitten" or "garage sale" signs, even if
illegally posted -- especially if they are removed by their posters
in a timely manner. But don't you wish they'd remove their tape
scraps, too?)
