4/29/11 -- Beautiful cool spring day.

Perfect for using the planer outside the shop where it made interesting, unfamiliar waste, and finished beautiful scarph joints.

And, we prove again that one can never own enough clamps.

4/30/11 -- Saturday

Use the planer to finish up a few more laminates for the gunwales. I hooked the shop vac to the planer. Slick.

I moved the boat outside, then used the belt sander to round-over the chine exteriors (photos below); getting ready for cloth. Also sanded (to bare wood) port side where its outwale will be attached with glue. Also sanded the entire exterior with a oscillating sander.

By the way, here is a line drawing of the sail plan as designed by Bevin:

I'm quite sure I'll not use Bevin's sail plan. "Mic" Storer has described why the "balance lug" sail might be a better one for this boat. Here's a link.

5/1/11 -- Sunday

After MWC concert, went to shop and glued outer strip to port gunwale. Probably will glue outer strip to starboard gunwale tomorrow. Then there will be no excuse for not putting cloth on bottom. (But I have Senior Olympic event on Tuesday, and a skin cancer operation on Wednesday, so, who knows . . . )
