4/6/12 -- Frank (or anyone), These two black fittings were under the fwd. air scoop. (Pictured below.) I'm re-installing them on my new panel, but wonder if they were to perform any function other than as a "dressing" for the two round holes in the panel and deck. i.e., Did they connect to ducts similar to the ducts found under the aft deck?

Frank Miklos replied -- "Not sure, these may have had flexible tubing attached to them or were just flanges to finish off the holes ..."

The photo on the right below shows the layout of my new forward panel. Soon after taking this photo, the edges and bottom of the marine plywood panel were coated with epoxy.

The new layout and light fixture will permit installing and removing the burgee from the front seat. (This will be tested before fixing the light's position.)

Above -- First try at assembly and installation showed the need for shims to "square up" the framing pieces.

So much for that brilliant idea. In trying to avoid water being trapped under forward deck's panel, we did not "wrap" the vinyl. Now I'll have to go back and shim some at every screw on the stainless frame. The ply has been epoxied, so I still like the situation. (Shims UNDER panel, of course.)

4/15/12 -- Shims have been added at every screw position. They bring the surface of the vinyl right up to the inside of the stainless trim pieces.
