Here's a nice looking 1948 Century. Nicole Raynovich (the owner, of McHenry, Maryland), said on facebook: We're looking to sell it very soon. Just waiting on a title. What do you think is a good asking price? It's in wonderful condition. It has been in storage for about 7 years, and when we got it out this summer she started right up and purred. We also have a trailer for it.
Some facebook comments: 2/1/13 -- Frank Miklos -- Here is a photo of a nearly identical one down to the chrome Century name. 2/1/13 -- Frank Miklos -- Looking closer and seeing where you are from I actually I think it is the same boat. We re-finished it back in 1987. Bottom is still original, never re-done. 104 Graymarine engine. More photos from 1987 here. I last saw this boat at Patterson's around 1993-95. 2/1/13 -- Nicole Raynovich -- My father is the owner of Patterson Boat. He bought it from Dick and Betty Friend. 2/1/13 -- Frank Miklos -- Definitely the one we did in 1987. (Owner did not want loose cushions.) We made it look similar to cushions but solid seat bottoms. Looks like it's been well taken care of since we did it. Could use some varnish. Looks to be dull from a cover. 2/1/13 -- Frank Miklos -- It doesn't look like much has been done since it left. I doubt that it has had any varnish in the last 25 years. I think the last time we had it for anything was March 1992. We used it for set dressing in an HBO movie, "Citizen Cohn." 2/1/13 -- Nicole Raynovich -- Frank, I can't tell you how happy your post made me. Since you did work on this boat can you give me any information about it? My father is trying to acquire the original title for it but we cannot locate the hull number. Any idea what it is or where to locate it? 2/1/13 -- Paul Miklos -- Nicole, When it was done there was no sign of the hull number on the old transom and this was before the stringer was stenciled and from the look of the boat, not having registration numbers, I wonder if anyone has even titled the boat in the last 20 years. 2/1/13 -- Paul Miklos -- The only location for certain was stenciled in the port side of the transom. There could have been one of the Texaco/Century ID plates inside the motorbox, but if it had one, it was long gone. When the boat came in it had been converted to a 'natural' finish. The white had been stripped off the hull and the cedar planking was color varnished with the stain in the varnish. The interior was covered from the inwales down in red/black speckled outdoor carpeting. It was a mess and it took a lot of persuading the then owner to return it to its original look.
