STOP WORK! Although we had a valid Building Permit issued by the City of Springfield, after the footings were poured, the Springfield Building and Zoning Department issued a Stop Work Order. From Todd, 6/7/18 (edited): Here is a quick drawing of revised garage. 1) I would shorten overhang on gables to 1 foot. Then I can move garage 1 foot to the east. (1 foot closer to street. Meaning this 1 foot would be 1 less ft. the building will have to be moved away from the water line, i.e., toward the street.) 2) The main parking area of garage will be 31'6" wide (was 35' 1-1/2"). 3) Add an area on east end for work bench, etc. This would move us another 5' from water main. Front corner is only 1' away now. Back corner of garage is still where Bob had it -- at 11' off of property line.
6/7/18: Bob and Grant reviewed and approve Todd's proposal. Todd's been informed. Notes -- Grant did not want a "man door" -- but man door/work bench area was located on west end of garage to be closer to the house. Grant was concerned about shorter overhangs not matching those on house, but they will match. Bob and Grant think Todd's two gables on east end add "curb appeal." Grant still wonders if there really is a 6" main. (6/11/18 -- Todd confirmed there is -- it feeds a fire hydrant north of us.) 6/8/18 - Dave Cosner sent this photo of the footing along the west end of the garage. Water main marked in blue. Orange shows the revised location of west end of garage.
