Saturday afternoon, Phyllis and I were driving South on I-55 when our phones emitted loud warnings of nearby tornados. The tornados were to our left. We didn't see any, but because of cloud formations, it was pretty obvious where they were. The warnings caused a lot of poor driving on the Interstate. Two semis and a bunch of cars ended up in the ditch. Later we learned one tornado destroyed a large building a few feet off the highway -- just before we passed:

I hung Howard's Pietenpol prop in the new house yesterday. (Exposure difficult, hence the Photoshopped image.)
FYI: This prop is the first of three he made for 444MH. It is the prettiest, but not the best performer. It wouldn't lift two when new, but Howard re-carved it to the shape seen here and it lifted the two of us. (See the original tips in my 1989 Sport Aviation article; 444MH article)
Howard made two more props for 444MH. Both performed better than this one. One of them is flying the Piet today, I'm told. Although the maple and mahogany laminates are beautiful, they differ greatly in hardness and Howard said he'd never try to shape another one like it. (BTW, he also carved the prop on his T-18 in 1962. See T-18 article)

The prop reminds me of Howard and the many miles it pulled us through the air to Dayton, Brodhaed, Oshkosh, etc.

The kitchen countertops have been installed, and the carpeting where specified. The kitchen sink is handsome, although it has no plumbing yet.

The electrician dropped the glass shade for the guest bath vanity light. It will be replaced, thanks to Amazon. There is one pair of windows that will require privacy shades. See why here.

I've started to move stuff into the garage, but the real workbench will not be built for awhile. The strip heaters salvaged from the tear-down will be used only occasionally (so wrenches handled in winter won't feel like ice cubes.) That compressor stand is home to the shop-vac. The structure with the red bucket is the strong-back used to build "Uncle Richard."
