Aug 24, 2006 Today three wells were dug for our geothermal HVAC system. I learned that for each ton of Air Conditioning, 150 ft. of underground tubing is needed. (Our 3 wells are about 130, 136 and 146 ft. in depth.) The close-up (Photo #03) shows how the bottom ends of the tubing is joined to make the "U" tubes. The "coolant" will be circulated in 3 parallel circuits (as opposed to the tubes being in series.) The 3 circuits will be joined by the well digger in an underground manifold. The manifold will combine the three circuits into one pipe that will be routed through our foundation wall (below the laundry room.) Bill Williams showed up to ask the well digger if our sidewalk location should avoid the wells. Bentonite was used to "grout" the tubing in the well holes.
